BENTON COUNTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY · REPUBLICAN
About Julie Long
For 28 years, Julie Long’s career has been in the courtroom as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Benton and Franklin Counties, prosecuting thousands of cases, from aggravated first-degree murder, rape, and arson to drug trafficking, and arguing before the Court of Appeals and the Washington Supreme Court. She is running for Benton County Prosecuting Attorney to bring that experience and proven leadership back to the office.
A CAREER IN THE COURTROOM
28 years prosecuting the region's toughest cases
Julie has won more than 100 jury trials as lead counsel, from first-degree murder and felony assaults to drug trafficking and arson. She served as Chief Deputy Prosecutor for over 15 years and has argued before the Washington Supreme Court.
She has worked shoulder to shoulder with law enforcement throughout her career, alongside the Tri-City Metro Drug Task Force, the Kennewick Criminal Apprehension Team, and the Richland and Pasco Street Crimes Units, in the fight against drugs and gangs across the region.
TOUGH ON CRIME
A proven record of holding violent offenders accountable
Julie has a record of asking for high bail and refusing to plea bargain with violent criminals. She aggressively prosecutes drug trafficking and gang-related crimes, and she takes cases to trial against those who falsely claim insanity to avoid responsibility.
As the daughter of a Marine, she values the region’s therapeutic and Veteran courts and supports the right candidates for those programs. As Prosecuting Attorney, she will prioritize the office’s backlog of more than 500 cases awaiting charging decisions so victims finally have their day in court.
